INVOLVEMENT

This is an overview of the different honor societies and organizations that I have been involved with while pursuing my education.

I have been fortunate enough to be invited into multiple organizations, that have exposed me to many networking and self-improvement opportunities.

National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS)

New Inductee

  • Learned that My leadership Style is C - Conscientious Style: Analytical

  • Participated in Success Network Meetings (SNTs) with two other NSLS members. This helped me learn about others and

  • Earned two virtual leadership badges by completing the induction requirements.

  • As a new inductee, I can also take advantage of a personalized letter of recommendation for a job or graduate school.

One of the best features of NSLS is the speaker broadcasts. These are 45-minute interviews with influential leaders from different industries.

Here are the ones that I viewed and learned from:

  1. Kevin Hart: Learning From the Heart

  2. Terry Crews: Strength Comes from Within

  3. Robin Roberts: Brighter By The Day

  4. Andrew Yang: Moving Leadership Forward

  5. His Holiness The Dalai Lama: Happiness & Leading With Warm Heartedness

phi theta kappa honor society (ptk)

Alumni Member

I have been a Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) member since I was enrolled in community college. This is an exclusive honor society for 2-year college students, with a GPA of 3.7 and above.

This honor society was extremely welcoming and great to be a part of a legacy. I had no idea that my sisters were also in PTK until I received the invitation. It is always a great honor to be recognized for your achievements.

National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS)

Alumni Member

I originally joined this honor society in 2017 when I was still attending community college. I was excited to be invited by another organization, especially one that is involved in doing volunteer work. I have always enjoyed giving back to the community, and even thought I don't do it as much as I used to, it is still something I believe strongly in.

Monarch LEAD – Comprehensive Leadership Program

Emerging Leader

I found out about the Monarch LEAD Program through an announcement sent by ODU. After reading more about the program on the website, I was intrigued by the Leadership Lecture Series (LLS). I didn't think too much of it at first, but being able to interact with successful leaders, in real-time, and ask questions is amazing. It can be really hard to network, and this was a great opportunity to get advice on important factors.
