reflections
“My biggest takeaway is that it takes a lot of passion and discipline to be a leader. I learned how to effectively work with others who are different from me.”
“Participating in this session improved my ability to resolve financial issues and think critically about budgeting."
"I loved how he explained how to set up a conversation when you know you need to give criticism. This is a skill everyone should have, and I am glad that I have the tools to work on it.”
1 / The new face of leadership
This session focused on the strength and challenges of a non-traditional leader. It featured situations of women leading in industries that are majority males, as well as minorities at the helm as one of the first, etc.

Rubin, Ph.D., has served as chairman of the Finance Department, interim dean of the College of Business and Public Administration, and is the current director of the Economics Club of Hampton Roads and the director of the Insurance and Financial Services Center. 3 / the art of constructive criticism
Great leaders must be able to give and receive feedback constructively. Yet, giving and receiving feedback remains one of the most elusive skills for leaders to acquire, successfully implement, and assess. As a result, it can cause leaders a great deal of anxiety disrupting productivity, team synergy, and overall team culture.
